Rusty Braid

We started this quilt when Sari was very sick and in ICU. To help with her recovery, we wanted her to have a lap blanket made from the fabrics she gave us. Very sadly, she did not recover.

We sent this quilt to Aunt Elaine. She uses it in her living room and gets lots of compliments.

My friend Katie, who I reconnected with at Sari's memorial service, helped with the machine quilting.

Size: 48" x 49" Lap size
Quilting: Abstract design using a Pantograph. Beige thread (Omni from Superior Threads).
Backing: Gold colored plain cotton. All fabrics were a gift from Sari Porter. Golds, yellows, browns, rusts were her colors. She generously gave us her stash when she was doing some de-cluttering in her house. (As if a stash of fabrics should ever be called CLUTTER!) Last year we made several quilts to donate from her stash. I'll include pictures of some of the others in this posting.
Batting: 100% Cotton (Warm and Natural)
Binding: Dark brown cotton print fabric
Pattern: Hexagon braid from Fons and Porter TV show. We looked up the instructions on their web site. We used to watch their quilting show every afternoon. Unfortunately KCSM quit carrying it.
