Elefantes Rosas

This is the next one in the baby quilt donation project. Mother found this cotton fabric on the red tag table during a red tag fabric sale. It was a good deal plus really cute fabric. Pink and brown are popular colors for babies right now. The only down side for this one was the fabric on the back. It was a tight weave and very difficult to quilt causing a lot of needle flex and skipped stitches. I had to rip out quite a bit and that left some holes in the backing fabric. Lesson learned: use softer backing fabrics.

Size: 48" x 56" Baby Size
Quilting: Windblown flower pantograph that I made for the Red Rails quilt (3 bobbins) using light pink thread (Omni from Superior Threads).
Backing: Light pink-colored cotton fabric
Batting: 100% Cotton (Warm and Natural)
Binding: Dark burgundy cotton print also used in the inner border and outer border corner blocks.
Pattern: Designed by Mother; center is the elephant print with an inner border and then a piano key pieced outer border with corner blocks.
