Cerrito Blocks (Sally’s and Mother’s Quilt)

Mother planned the blocks, Sally sewed them together, I quilted it, and Spencer QC’d it. It was a real family project! The top was completed last year and rested waiting to be pressed. Sally finally braved the ironing board and iron and I quilted it. The pattern was adapted from a table runner Sally saw in a magazine. The blocks were made bigger for a bed quilt. It’s an adaption of the traditional “Court House Steps” pattern. It’s a totally scrap quilt. I couldn’t face another horizontal lines quilting pattern, so I made loop-de-loops.

Triangle Mania (Kit and Donation)

The tricks for good half-square triangles: accurate cutting, accurate seam allowance, and press the seams open. With this quilt, I got a lot of practice making half-square triangles and I was really pleased how well the blocks turned out. Nevertheless, there were lots of corners to trim off!

This was a Craftsy quilt kit called “Flock Together, Looking Glass Quilt Kit”. I love the bright Boundless “Looking Glass” fabrics in the kit. I must admit that I hate letting this quilt go to donation. It’s my all time favorite. But I’ll suck it up and let it go.
