Hearts and Kisses Table Topper

I saw a cute pattern for a Valentine’s Day table topper, made by Misty, on the Missouri Star internet site. I got the pattern last year and this year for a fun break I decided to make it. It did turn out to be cute.
  • 24 1/2“ x 24 1/2”
  • Quilting: Quilted with straight lines and quilt in the ditch around the crosses (kisses) and hearts. I also quilted in the centers of the hearts and crosses. Used 100% cotton thread (Aurifil) and the walking foot. Quilting by Patty.
  • Backing: Bright pink print from Patty’s inventory
  • Batting: 80% cotton/20% polyester. “Comfort Blend” from WinLine.
  • Binding: Magenta solid from Patty’s inventory.
  • Pattern: MSQC  “Hearts and Kisses”
  • Sewing by Patty.
  • Quilting on domestic machine (Patty).
  • Binding by Patty.

Cousin Jeanine’s Quilt

Cousin Jeanine sent a queen bed sized quilt top that she pieced from scrap fabric.

The back is a tan flannel print from my inventory. It is a wide piece of fabric made for quilt backs.
  • 74 1/2” x 95 1/2" Queen bed sized
  • Quilted in wavy lines, loop-de-loops, and spirals. The hope was that the quilting would help the strips hang together. Used medium brown thread “Canyon” Omni brand 100% polyester from Superior Threads. Free form quilting. 6 bobbins. Quilting by Patty.
  • Backing: A wide, flannel print back from my inventory
  • Batting: 80% cotton/20% polyester. “Comfort Blend” from WinLine.
  • Binding: Navy blue tonal print sent by Jeanine
  • Pattern: Wide, vertical strips of fabric
  • Piecing by Jeanine
  • Pinned into frame December 27, 2023. Quilting on long arm quilter December 29-30, 2023. (Patty).
  • Binding by Patty

County Line 2024

County Line Quilts

2024

2023 was a tough year. Spencer, my QC guy, died on Dec. 20. Also, Google and Apple stopped playing nice together, so any photo I post disappears after a time. I mostly quilted for relatives in 2023 and several of those quilts weren’t much fun. So, this year, I’m giving up. I won’t make goals and figure out if I met last year’s goals. I’ll use this blog as an index and look on my phone for the pictures. I’ll quilt for my relatives and sister, but not plan to quilt for myself.

I don’t know if this is grief for Spencer or long Covid, but my enthusiasm is at a low point.
