Aunt Joyce’s Blue and White Quilt A

By using a border fabric, Aunt Joyce was able to make 2 quilts out of her blue and white blocks. I’ve dubbed them “A” and “B”. These quilts are for a couple of her grandchildren and she’d like to gift them at Thanksgiving.

Owls in the Woods

This is a quilt for one of David and Chelsea’s expected twin sons. Once again I used the “Jumping Jacks” crib quilt pattern from Quilts from Sweet Jane by Sue Pfau. I used this pattern previously for “Rhythm and Harmony” in September, “The Zoo” quilt in August, “Hold Tight” quilt in March of this year and the “Socky” quilt in May 2014.

The charm packs for this quilt are called “Through the Woods” and have owls on some of the squares. From the vendor Fat Quarter Shop about the fabric line, “You can almost hear the crunching leaves below and the owls hooting in the distance with this collection full of forest images: Ferns, trees, flowers and moths in yellow, black, grey and white prints. Finally, all the lunar cycles of the moon to help you avoid getting lost in the woods!”
  • 38" x 51 1/4" Crib size
  • Quilting: Quilted in wavy horizontal lines to resemble the breezes blowing through the woods and rustling the leaves.  Used golden 100% polyester thread (Omni from Superior Threads-named "Goldenrod"). 4 bobbins. Quilting by Patty.
  • Backing: Shooting stars print on a beige or light gray background from a fabric.com sale.
  • Batting: 80% cotton/20% polyester. Comfort Blend by Winline.
  • Binding: Medium grey print from a Fab Fabrics sale. The sale was celebrating Heather’s life, one of the founders of the store. She recently died from cancer.
  • Pattern: “Jumping Jacks” crib quilt pattern from Quilts from Sweet Jane by Sue Pfau
  • Piecing by Patty
  • Pinned into frame September 15, 2022. Quilting on long arm quilter September 15-16, 2022. (Patty).

Rhythm and Harmony Crib Quilt

This is a quilt for one of David and Chelsea’s expected twin sons. The boys, or “my butters” as Quinn calls them, are due between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Once again I used the “Jumping Jacks” crib quilt pattern from Quilts from Sweet Jane by Sue Pfau. I used this pattern previously for “The Zoo” quilt in August and “Hold Tight” quilt in March of this year and the “Socky” quilt in May 2014.

The charm packs for this quilt are called “Rhythm and Harmony” and have a music theme. Both Chelsea and David are music teachers. The back is a tan and brown circle print from a MSQC sale.
  • 39 1/4" x 51 1/4" Crib size
  • Quilting: Quilted in straight horizontal lines to resemble a music staff, 5 lines and space.  Used medium blue 100% polyester thread (Omni from Superior Threads-named "Adrift"). 4 bobbins. Quilting by Patty.
  • Backing: Concentric tan and brown circle print. Wide back from a MSQC sale.
  • Batting: 80% cotton/20% polyester. Comfort Blend by Winline.
  • Binding: Brown tonal print from Patty’s stash. The same fabric was used to bind “Chocolate Diamonds” Aunt Joyce’s quilt that I made in June.
  • Pattern: “Jumping Jacks” crib quilt pattern from Quilts from Sweet Jane by Sue Pfau
  • Piecing by Patty
  • Pinned into frame September 1, 2022. Quilting on long arm quilter September 1-2, 2022. (Patty).
