Subtle and Subdued

 

This is another of my mother's special strip quilts. The name comes from the color selection for the various strips. This is a very pretty and somehow restful looking quilt. On Aug, 19, 2019 given to Zebiba Ahmed who was Mother’s best caregiver after she broke her arm and neck.

• Size: 67" x 84" Twin bed size
• Quilting: Quilted in a meandering loose stipple. Free form quilting. Used gray-green 100% polyester thread (Omni from Superior Threads-named "Khaki"). 7 bobbins. Quilting by Patty.
• Backing: Two green print fabrics from Mother's stash. 
• Batting: 100% cotton Warm and Natural
• Binding: Brown print fabric from my Mother's inventory
• Pattern: Strips arranged by Mother

Aunt Linda's Strippy Triangles

 

Aunt Linda's fourth quilt is very special and beautiful. It looks like an heirloom. I thought long and hard about how to quilt it. I finally decided on something simple to not detract from the gorgeous piecing and pattern.

• Size: 61" x 86" Twin bed size
• Quilting: Quilted in a meandering loose stipple. Free form quilting. Used top thread off-white 100% polyester thread (Omni from Superior Threads-named "Butter"). Used bobbin thread yellow-brown 100% polyester (Omni from Superior Threads-named "Goldenrod").  6 bobbins. Quilting by Patty.

• Quilting: Quilted in a square meander. Free form quilting. Used top thread bright orange 100% polyester thread (Omni from Superior Threads-named "Orange Glow"). Used bobbin thread red 100% polyester (Omni from Superior Threads-named "Neon Red").  7 bobbins. Quilting by Patty.

Aunt Linda's Hawaiian Print Flannel Quilt

Aunt Linda came to visit end of August. She brought 4 of her quilt tops to assemble and quilt. We got them all done, despite a few set backs including her visit to the ER for vertigo. It was a successful quilting party, despite the problems.

Used bobbin thread turquoise 100% polyester (Omni from Superior Threads-named "Light Turquoise").  5 bobbins. Quilting by Aunt Linda and Patty.
• Backing: Turquoise flannel.
• Batting: 100% cotton flannel. Quilted beautifully and easily!
