Aunt Joyce sent flannel backs for the Dinosaur Quilts, but they were a skoosh too small for me to use. So, I used some sale flannel from JoAnn’s and the flannel backs she sent and turned them into their own quilts. The flannel she sent was printed, one with racing cars and one with trucks and construction vehicles. The combination of flannel back and top with a thin cotton batting makes for a very toasty and cozy quilt. There was enough of the printed flannel left to make a pillowslip for each print.
Racing Cars Quilt
- 61” x 78" single bed size
- Quilted in slightly wavy crisscrossing horizontal lines. Used bright red thread “Neon Red” Omni brand 100% polyester from Superior Threads. Free form quilting. 6 bobbins. Quilting by Patty.
- Backing: Medium to dark blue swirl-printed cotton flannel from a MSQC sale.
- Batting: 100% cotton. Quilter’s Dream Cotton Request, thinnest loft
- Binding: Bright red printed fabric from my stash.
- Pattern: Traditional, alternating squares and half-square triangles.

Construction Vehicles Quilt
