Aunt Linda's One-Block Wonder

The Back being QC'd

The second quilt Aunt Linda left to be long armed is her one-block wonder. She plans to use it as the bed spread on her queen-sized bed, so it is big and took a while to quilt. I quilted a feather border design, so the quilt had to be remounted to do all the borders, adding to the time it took. And, of course, at the end there were lots of thread ends to bury, adding more to the time. Aunt Linda made a pieced back for the quilt, so the direction it was mounted did not matter. I selected mounting it the short way for the first pass and the long way to complete the borders. I used a feather stencil to quilt the border, and surprisingly the feathers turned out okay.

Size: 80" x 90" Queen bed sized
Quilting: Quilted feathers in the borders. Made a meandering design in the center, vaguely petal, flower-like. I wanted to be sure the center quilting didn't conflict with the beautiful flower blocks. Free form quilting in the center. Used a feather stencil in the borders. 17 bobbins total! Quilting by Patty.
Backing: Pieced back, with the fabric used for the one-block wonder piecing, and the white and purple used in the borders.
Batting: 100% bamboo.
Binding:  TBD by Aunt Linda
Pattern: One-Block Wonder
Piecing by Aunt Linda.
Pinned into frame September 18, 2015. Quilting on long arm quilter September 23-30, 2015. (Patty). Buried ends October 1 and shipped to Aunt Linda.
Binding by Aunt Linda.
QC by Spencer.
